2 more Lifeguards make the grade!

Last weekend saw Anna and Hugh pass their Surf Lifeguard exam!

The Friday before saw them both go well under the required time for the 400m swim and pass the theory questions, which meant they had no trouble making to the next part of the test.

Saturday was pretty breezy but even running into the wind couldn’t stop them from passing the 200m run test.

Once they both showed their skills in First Aid and resus, it was onto the water. The sea though, was no match for the combined efforts of Anna and Hugh who showed their training had been well absorbed. Battling the cross shore drift, they had no trouble in saving their casualty (who was not appreciating the 6 degree water temp) and getting the required aid to them.

The beach scenarios always throw something interesting into the mix and that day was no different. Lost Indians, anaphylactic shock and cut feet at pretty much the same time. All were dealt with appropriately though which meant only one thing. THEY PASSED!

So a big well done to Anna and Hugh for being awesome and becoming Lifeguards!  And not forgetting the guys who put together and ran the course – Paul and Chris, without them the course could not have been done!

Now let the fun begin!

Cheers, Josh
