Swim Training

Swimming: Where & when do we train?

We train at the RGU pool (at Robert Gordon University) on Fridays, meet in reception/cafe area at around 6:45pm and in the pool for 7pm. Training goes on for about an hour and costs £2.50 per session.

We usually run through a schedule that works on drills as well as technique and stamina building, what fun!

News: Swim training is currently on every Friday at RGU pool!

  • Hey,

Ive just moved to Aberdeen and was wondering you still have training on? if So would i be able to come, when and where?

  • Hi Kim!
I sent you an email with the details, I had already posted a comment on here the other day but I don’t know where it went!?
Hopefully we’ll see you at the club on a Sunday from around 12:30pm or on Friday nights at RGU pool at around 6:45 in the reception/cafe area 🙂
    Cheers, Josh

  • Hi,

Am looking to do a beach lifeguard course sometime in next couple of months and wondered if you can help me out? I potentially have two others keen to do it too.

  • Hi Donald,
As far as I’m aware there is course starting pretty soon and I’m sure you and your friends will be welcome to join!
Have you joined our Facebook group yet? If not I would recommend it as it’s the best way to keep up with what we’re up to!
    Here’s a link to it: http://www.facebook.com/groups/205175276180802/

  • Hello,

I am very keen to get involved! I have no surf experience but completed my NPLQ a couple of years back. Could you forward me on some more info?

    Thanks! 🙂

  • Hi Nadia,
    Apologies for not replying sooner.
It’s ace to hear you’re so keen!
If you are wanting to do a Beach Lifeguard course, it usually takes around 2 months or weekly training – Thursdays and Sundays (maybe more).
You cover first aid, sea recsues, signals, Lifeguard theory and a few other skills. It’s a really worthwhile qualifiaction to gain and is internationally recognised.
You don’t have to have your own wetsuit as we have some down the club you can borrow, however having your own is very handy (and probably a lot warmer!!!), we can advise on what to go for if you need help.
We may be starting a course up in the next few weeks so if your interested, get down the club this Sunday at 12:30pm and have a chat to one of us, we’re all friendly…if a little nuts haha 🙂
If you have any other questions, please ask!
    Cheers, Josh

  • Hello,

I have just read the recent reply and I am also very interested to get involved (i.e. take part in training as much as I can and possibly take the courses if the opportunity presents itself). I am a student at the University of Aberdeen and I have always wanted to come down and be involved in the club! Do I just need to show up at training on Sundays? I also saw that you were doing swimming sessions on Fridays at the RGU pool. Am I also able to come along to that as well?
Thank you very much for all info that you might have.
    Really excited to get started.

    See you soon.

  • Hey Victor,
Cheers for the message! Yeah, as per the previous reply, just come on down tomorrow (or any Sunday) at 12:30 and we will answer any questions that you may have 🙂
You can join in our club swim sessions once you become a member and thats easy to do!
    See you soon!

  • Hi,

I was wondering do you do lifesaving courses? Or bronze swim courses? If you do, could you provide me with more details such as dates and prices; if not, can you possibly direct me to an appropriate organisation?

    Thanks so much,

  • Hi Lizzie!
Yes we do Lifeguard courses. But we’re not running any more this year as it’s gotten a wee bit chilly.
However we should be doing them again next year around easter time when the sea and air are a bit warmer!
We don’t run any swim courses but we do run friday swim sessions at RGU and you’re more than welcome to join us.
I’ll send you an email with more info and prices which we think are pretty good.

    Cheers, Josh

  • Hey,

I have just moved to Aberdeen and am looking to join your club, could you email me some details please? Are you training over the winter too?

    Many thanks
