2024 Updated training schedule as of 01/04/2024

As our Surf Lifesaving Club continues to grow, we are thrilled to announce our expanded training schedule for 2024. We have introduced additional sessions throughout the week, offering our members a diverse range of activities and ensuring they receive comprehensive surf lifesaving training.

Join us for the following sessions:

Saturday 10:30am – 1:30 pm Beach training

All year round

Saturday sessions are where you will gain valuable skills in surf lifesaving. These sessions cover various aspects, including first aid practice, water rescue techniques, and fitness drills. Open to members of all levels, including beginners.

Monday 18:30 – 19:30 pm  Surf Ski Training

May onwards

Surf ski paddling is an integral part of lifesaving sport and luckily for us, our club President Steve Olivier, has decades of surf ski experience, having paddled some of the toughest ocean straits off the coast of South Africa.

We have recently purchased a double ski, single lifesaving spec ski and have a junior ski on loan. These sessions will focus on developing the skill, strength and stamina to become a well-rounded surf ski paddler.

Wednesday 18:00 – 19:30 pm Beach Fitness

May onwards

Wednesday sessions are focused on developing and maintaining our physical fitness whilst enjoying our fantastic beach. These sessions are more demanding but are open to all abilities and will include beach and water exercise.

Thursday 18:00 – 19:30 pm Inshore Rescue Boat (IRB)

May onwards

Dive in to the adrenaline-pumping world of Inshore Rescue Boat (IRB) training on Thursdays ! Our comprehensive sessions cover essential topics such as IRB handling, boat and engine maintenance, safety protocols, and rescue drills. We are actively working towards qualifying our IRB crew with SLSGB IRB crew and driver awards.

Winter training – embrace the cold !

Attendance may drop off slightly as the temperatures plummet towards the end of the year, but don’t let the dropping temperatures hinder your training progress! Our dedicated crew continues to train throughout the winter months, ensuring you stay prepared for any situation. Plus, for avid surfers among our club members, we organise informal surf sessions to keep the stoke alive during the winter period.

Swimming

Swim training Nov-May Wednesdays 20:30 pm – 21:30 pm

Swimming plays a crucial role in surf lifesaving, and we prioritise enhancing swim technique and fitness. Join us for weekly swim sessions at the Robert Gordon University pool from 20:30 pm to 21:30 pm. As a club member, you can take advantage of these pool sessions at no additional cost. Our instructors will guide you through drills and exercises to improve your swimming skills and overall fitness levels. Stay Tuned for Pool Session Updates !

Join our Surf Lifesaving Club today and embark on an exhilarating journey towards becoming a skilled and confident lifesaver. Don’t miss out on the training sessions that will equip you with the knowledge and expertise needed to make a difference in beach safety.
